From Under The Kitchen Sink: Our spy in the Holiday Inn kitchen, Vincent "The Galloping Gourmet" Lam, has not informed us about this week's fare, but that's probably because there has not been a bulletin for the past two weeks, so maybe he thinks I've been kidnapped by aliens. Actually I was just travelling in the USA, and the time difference and a serious lack of time were the culprits. Anyway, I'm baaacccckkkk! Fellowship News:
No news. Attendance News - Group Makeup - This Week:
KGM Group Makeup's are the most fun thing you can do
without removing your clothing (unlike some of our
fellowships).
Anyway, our charming Attendance Director "Lady" Diana Yeung, has organised another Group Makeup for KGM members who are falling behind in their attendance (you know who you are). The group makeup will take place at 12:45 p.m., Friday 27 February 2004 at the RC Admiralty, who meet at the Dynasty Club (entrance adjacent to the driveway entrance of the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Wanchai North). Members interested in attending can obviously just show up, but it would be nice to forewarn Diana by calling her on 9889 9908. 2004
Annual Ball - Last Call:
The world famous KGM Annual
Ball will be held from 7:00 p.m. this Saturday 28 February at the Grand Hyatt
Hotel.
This year's theme is "Putting On The Ritz" (as in "Ritz Hotel",
not "Ritz Crackers"), and tickets remain reasonably priced at
$1,200 per head, which gets
you an all-inclusive cocktail hour, a typically excellent six course meal
from the Grand Hyatt, free wine all evening
long, fun contests, fantastic entertainment, dancing until
the wee hours of the morning plus dozens of fabulous prizes to be won.
What a great deal - why not organise a table of ten
(10) or more for your family, friends and business associates?
And, as usual, The
Dictator (who has an electronic "kill switch"),
ensures that speeches and other
formalities are limited to 12 minutes in total, regardless
of how many speakers there are, so you and your guests won't nod off in
your soup. Remember our Annual Ball is a "FUN
raising" event, not a Rotary Information Seminar.

Tick, tock, tick, tock. Still no news about who is our District Governor Nominee for the 2005/2006 Rotary Year, and there's nothing on the District website. I guess the details can't be revealed until the Hong Kong Government passes Article 23 legislation to deal with State secrets. In the meantime, here's what's coming up on the

Rotary Information: World Understanding Month: The month of February is designated World Understanding Month on the Rotary calendar. The month also includes the anniversary of the first meeting of Rotary held on 23 February 1905, now called World Understanding and Peace Day. To observe World Understanding Month, the Rotary International Board asks all Rotary clubs to plan programs for their weekly meetings and undertake special activities that emphasize “understanding and goodwill as essential for world peace.” In February, many clubs arrange for international speakers, invite Youth Exchange students and international scholars from schools and universities to club meetings, plan programs featuring former Group Study Exchange team members, arrange discussions on global issues, present entertainment with an international cultural or artistic theme, or plan other programs with an international emphasis. Many clubs take the opportunity to launch an international community service activity or make contact with a Rotary club in another country. It is a good month to initiate a Rotary Friendship Exchange or encourage support for Rotary Foundation programs. World Understanding Month is a chance for every club to pause, plan, and promote Rotary’s continued quest for goodwill, peace, and understanding among people of the world. .

Golden Smile: A former US Presidential First Lady, now a Senator, visited a primary school to talk about the world and, after her talk, she offered to answer a few questions. One little boy puts up his hand, and the Senator asks him his name. "Kenneth"
"And what is
your question, Kenneth?"
"Actually I have three questions. First -whatever happened to your medical healthcare plan? Second - will you still run for President given that your husband shamed the office? Third - whatever happened to all those things you took when you left the White House?" Just then the
bell rings for recess, so the Senator informs the kiddies that
they will continue after recess.
When they
resume the Senator says, "Okay where were we? Oh, that's right, question
time. Who has a question?"
A different
little boy raises his hand, so the Senator points to him and asks him
his name.
"Peter"
"And what is
your question, Peter?"
"Actually I
have five questions. First - whatever happened to your medical healthcare
