BOD Meeting - Tonight:

Members of the KGM Board are reminded that the next BOD meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. tonight, Monday 20 October 2003, at the conference room on the 2nd floor of the Holiday Inn Golden Mile.

If you can't attend, call KGM President Patricia "Iron Lady" Blair on 9312 3606 or KGM Secretary Clarissa "The Enforcer" Bellstedt on 9400 8261 or send them both an email as soon as possible.

If you don't, with these two extremely lovely ladies in charge, you'll be sent to The Tower and then shot.

New Avenue of Service - Reminder:

Since KGM members are all good Rotarians, who religiously study their Rotary Information, everybody knows that Rotary has four "Avenues of Service" - namely Club, Community, Vocational & International.

However KGM, being an innovative club, has decided to launch a 5th Avenue of Service - Maintenance Service. Yes Sir.

Don't believe me, huh?

Well apparently it's true, because our effervescent Vocational Service Director Vincent "Bone Bender" Lam has organised a Beauty Afternoon with Dermalogica at 4:00 pm Saturday 1 November at One Capital Centre, 23/F, 18 Luard Road, Wanchai (vicinity of Joe Bananas).

Although most of our male members could certainly do with some minor cosmetic surgery (e.g. a head transplant), this event has been tailored exclusively for female KGM members and the long-suffering "significant others" of male KGM members.

Once the facial reconstruction surgery, er sorry, I mean "Beauty Treatment" is finished, our revitalized ladies can then join the rest of us at Tsuen Wan for our fellowship event on the same day - see below.

Hey, we might even have a Booty, er, Beauty Contest.

Anyway, KGM Members and KGM "Significant Others" of the female persuasion interested in attending this event, should contact Vincent on telephone 9045 6871 or by email.

Fellowship News - Reminder:

Our old mate, KGM Fellowship Director PP "Butch" Cassidy Lam (a.k.a. Body Beautiful), reminds us that the next KGM fellowship will be a Poolside BBQ Night to be held from 7:00 p.m. on Saturday 1 November, at the Panda Hotel, Tsuen Wan.

The cost is once again a very reasonable $200 per head, and this includes a delicious selection of BBQ items, washed down by an unlimited supply of beer and soft drinks, all to the accompaniment of a live band (as opposed to a dead band).

Members interested in attending should contact PP Cassidy on 9031 2882 or Diana Yeung on 9197 8615 or send them both an email.

Mini Diwali Fellowship:

Our old mate (and favourite PDG) Dipo "The Plane, The Plane" Sani invites all KGM members to celebrate the Indian Diwali from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. this coming Friday 24 October 2003 at his office, namely Suite 901 Bank of America Tower, Central.

As usual, there will be a full bar (unless PP Louis gets there early), as well as a variety of yummy Indian snacks.

There's no need to book - just turn up!

Membership News - Reminder:

KGM's lovely and talented Membership Director Sonya "Good on ya" Wu has launched a "Member-Get-Member" campaign to encourage members to introduce new blood into KGM.

Check out the promotional poster then download a referral form then go find some new members, OK?

Rotary Information:

Tolerance of Differences: Occasionally, there is a temptation to criticize the laws, customs, and traditions of another country that may seem strange or contrary to our own. In some instances, illegal practices or customs of one nation are completely lawful and acceptable in another.

As members of an international organization dedicated to world understanding and peace, it behoves Rotarians to exercise restraint in judging our Rotary friends and citizens from other countries when their behavior seems unusual to us. A Rotary policy has existed for more than half a century relating to this dilemma of international relationships.

The statement, adopted in 1933, says that because it is recognized that some activities and local customs may be legal and customary in some countries and not in others, Rotarians should be guided by this admonition of tolerance:

“Rotarians in all countries should recognize these facts and there should be a thoughtful avoidance of criticism of the laws and customs of one country by the Rotarians of another country". The policy also cautions against “any effort on the part of Rotarians of one country to interfere with the laws or customs of another country".

As we strive to strengthen the bonds of understanding, goodwill, and friendship, these policies still provide good advice and guidance.

Advice from the Geek:

When sending an email message to multiple recipients, the correct protocol is to use the "Bcc" function of your email software, so that replies sent to you are not copied to all other recipients on your original message.

Using the "Bcc" function also protects the identify and email addresses of all recipients and it helps prevent their email addresses from being "harvested" by spammers.

Of course if it's absolutely essential that all recipients see the names of all the other recipient's as well as their replies, then you can use the "To" or "Cc" function.

However for most purposes, the "Bcc" function is the smart and considerate way to go.

Who Am I?

What is the more common name of sexy Canadian singer Eileen Regina Edwards?

Clue: She's a little bit country.

The answer appears at the bottom of this issue.

Contributed by President Patricia "Iron Lady" Blair:

The following "singles" ad appeared in The Atlanta Journal:

"Single Black Female seeks male companionship; ethnicity unimportant.

I'm a very good looking girl who loves to play. I love long walks in the woods, riding in your pickup truck, hunting, camping and fishing trips, cozy winter nights lying by the fire. Candlelight dinners will have me eating out of your hand. Rub me the right way and watch me respond. I'll be at the front door when you get home from work, wearing only what nature gave me. Kiss me and I'm yours. Call (404) 875-6420 and ask for Daisy".

Over 15,000 men found themselves talking to the Atlanta Humane Society about an 8-week old black Labrador retriever.

Men are so easy.

Quotable Quotes:

"The most unfair thing about life is the way it ends. I mean, life is tough. It takes up a lot of your time. What do you get at the end of it? Death. What's that, a bonus? I think the life cycle is all backwards.

You should die first, get it out of the way. Then you live in an old age home. You get kicked out because you're too young, you get a gold watch and you go to work. You work forty years until you're young enough to enjoy your retirement. You do drugs, alcohol, you party, you get ready for high school. You go to grade school, you become a kid, you play, you have no responsibilities.
Then you become a little baby, you go back into the womb, you spend your last nine months floating about, and you finish off as an orgasm".

Andy Rooney.
