What is an Interact Club? Interact is a
Rotary-sponsored service club for young people age 14-18. Interact Clubs
can either be school or community based and are required to carry out at
least two service projects annually; one which serves their school or
community and another that furthers international understanding. Report from the President: During the first half of the 2000/2001 year, we organised and/or participated in the following activities: 1. Joint Rotary Walkathon - Sunday 26 November, 2000 at Sai Kung Country Park This was our annual fund raising Walkathon. Four of us participated in this activity. It is a good chance for us to communicate with Rotarians. 2. Training Courses for Committee members and Interactors Organised by the Hong Kong YMCA Western District Service Center on 3 December 2000. Our aim was to learn the basic skills of being an volunteer and improve ourselves through various games and other activities.. 3. Joint Rotary Service (Community Service visit to Po Leung Kuk) on 10 December 2000. Our target were thirty (30) children aged from 4 to 6 years of age. During the second half of the 2000/2001 year we organised and/or participated in the following activities: 1. China Trip - Joint School Project with Ying Wa College and the Methodist Center. This was a one-week service visit to Mainland China during July 2001. The three main programs were first-hand experience on farm and cultural communication with local Primary and Secondary students. 2. Summer Local - Joint School Project with St Paul’s College and the YMCA. This was a 1 week project aimed at helping students
who have difficulties in learning through outing and
other activities. 3. Interact Night - This was a Welcome Dinner for visiting Interactors from Malaysia, which was a great evening full of fellowship. On the next day, all of us provided "hands-on" service at one of our local homes for the elderly. 4. Mini-Orientation Night - This was a camp for Interact Club Presidents and was held at Wu Kai Sah Camosite. 5. Hunger Banquet - This was a fund-raising event, with proceeds going to World Vision 6. Walkathon - Our second for the current year. Fiona Lau |
