Duties of the
Programme Director
|
The Programme Director is responsible for identifying, booking, scheduling and publishing (in cooperation with the Bulletin Director and Webmaster), a list of the various speakers who will address our regular club meetings each week throughout the year. Speakers can be broadly categorised as follows: 1) External Guest Speakers: The Programme Director should find interesting "external" guest speakers, from as many different professions, industries and communities as possible to address the club, so that a variety of topics can be presented. Organising a great diversity of speakers is also a great way of assisting the club to maintain a high level of attendance by members. As the Programme Director will be usually asked by the club President to introduce each week's guest speaker, it is important that the Programme Director obtains a copy of the speaker's CV for this purpose. 2) Internal Guest
Speakers: These include Vocational Service talks given by club
members (in cooperation with the Club Vocational Service Director), Club Assemblies (usually held every 3 months), "mini" Rotary
Information Seminars and the official visit to the club by the District Governor
and/or other District Officers. More often than not, "internal" guest speakers will be introduced by the club President, however it is obviously very important to determine who will be responsible prior to commencement of the relevant meeting. Of course the Programme Director must also determine whether speakers require aids such as overhead projectors, slide projectors, a "whyteboard" or other devices to assist them during their presentations, and to ensure that these are made available. The Programme Director must also keep the Bulletin Director and Webmaster regularly updated on the programme of events he has arranged so that they can, in turn, publish up-to-date information. Finally, it is imperative that the Programme Director arrives early at regular club meetings each week, in order to welcome the guest speaker, to give them a "Guest Speaker" badge and to help them to arrange their complimentary lunch and drinks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~
