(Belated) "Hey, You're An Old Fart" greetings to: PDG Dipo
"Gramps" Sani, who became a Grandfather for the very first
time on 1 November 2004, when his son Sudesh's
wife Amishi gave birth to a bouncing (waltzing?) baby boy
at The Matilda Hospital - mother and child are both doing well, but Gramps
is looking much greyer!

A sad farewell to Ted Durham, who recently resigned from KGM due to being transferred to another hotel. Ted was an active supporter of all KGM activities, and he will be sorely missed. We therefore wish Ted and his charming wife every success and happiness for the future, and we sincerely hope that we will see them again soon. Fellowship News:
Our permanently sun-tanned young mate "Lady" Diana Yeung has announced that our next club fellowship event will be a Pirates & Parrots Event, which will take place from 4:00 p.m. on Saturday 20 November at Treasure Island on Lantau Island. The assembly time and place is 2:00 p.m at the Outlying Ferry Pier No. 6 in
Central. The ferry takes 30 minutes to get to Mui-Wo,
after which members can either take a public bus or a taxi to final
destination Pui-On Beach.
After enjoying some of the facilities at Treasure
Island, dinner will be
provided at a cost of $280 per adult and
only $45 per child.
Moreover, rooms (and tents) are available for
overnight stays for members in the mood for some hanky-panky
(batteries not included) and/or spanky-spanky (bring your own masks,
handcuffs and whipped cream).

HEADS UP: There'll be a joint fellowship of all the clubs in Area 7 of District 3450 (which includes KGM), on the evening of Wednesday 1 December, at a venue (and at a cost) to be announced soon. Fund-Raising News:
Our old mate Brian "The
Full Monty" Hodgson is, ahhh, tickled pink (some would
say tickled "pasty white"), to announce that his latest,
um, titillating project has finally been launched, and he sincerely
hopes that he hasn't made an, er, ass of himself.
Anyway, twelve valiant
members of our club have bared all in the name of charity,
and the results can be seen in a 2005
Calendar, the making of which was, according to Brian,
"Both a privilege and a joy, as it provided a source of great fun for all
contributors".
Of course a major contribution was made by
Colin Beere, a hugely creative
and immensely talented photographer, who turned an idea into a reality.
Apparently he also owns an industrial strength air-brush (thank God for
small mercies!).
All proceeds raised through sales of the calendar will
benefit various local & overseas charitable organisations
which KGM has supported over the past 18 years, and these
include Aids Concern. Cancer Research HK, Christian Action,
Crossroads International, Cleft Lip surgery for children in the
Philippines, Gift of Life (hole-in-the-heart surgery for children in
China), Haven of Hope Hospice, Lok Chi Association for the Disabled and
the St. James' Settlement.
Brian hopes every member will buy at least 10
copies of the calendar to give to family, friends or customers.

HK$125 if you order before 1 December) - see

Our old mate and Vocational
Service Director Miranda "King" Kong has organised a
vocational visit for Sunday 28
November to the Lok Chi
Association at Kwai Chung, one of the many beneficiaries
of our Community Service contributions.
Unfortunately no other details are available at this

Where, oh where, is our beloved DG Alexander Mak's latest monthly newsletter? The most current one available on the District website is the August 2004 issue, but it's already, like, November, dude. Wassup? And when, oh when, is the DG going to make his Official Visit to KGM? Sure, it's nice getting together with the other clubs in Area 7 for a slap-up dinner, dance & tickle, but surely KGM is entitled to a visit where KGM has our DG's undivided attention? Although the Avenues of Service are not found in any formal part of the constitutional documents of Rotary, many Rotarians use this concept to describe the primary areas of Rotary activity, namely: •
Club Service involves all of
the necessary activities Rotarians perform to make their club function
successfully. In KGM, this includes the Attendance, Bulletin,
Fellowship, Membership, Program and Rotary Information
committees.
•
Vocational Service describes
the opportunity each Rotarian has to represent the dignity and utility of
one's vocation to the other members of the club, as well as the
responsibility of the club to undertake projects related to such areas as
career planning, vocational training, and the promotion of high ethical
standards in the workplace.
•
Community Service pertains to
those activities that Rotarians undertake to improve the quality of life
in their community. It frequently involves assistance to youth, the aged,
the disabled, and others who look to Rotary as a source of hope for a
better life.
•
International Service
describes the many programs and activities that Rotarians undertake to
advance international understanding, goodwill and peace. International
Service projects are designed to meet humanitarian needs of people in many
lands.
When
a Rotarian understands and travels down the four Avenues of Service, the
Object of Rotary takes on even greater meaning.

Golden Smile: A Baptist minister was seated next to a Marine on a flight from California to Tennessee. After the plane was airborne, drink orders were taken.
The Marine asked for a double scotch, served straight up, and it was
brought and placed before him. The flight attendant then asked the
Minister if he'd like a drink.
Clearly in disgust, the Minister replied, "I'd rather
be savagely raped by brazen whores, than let liquor touch my lips."
On hearing this, the Marine handed his drink back to
the attendant and said, "Me too. I didn't know we had a choice."

Educators:
According to a recent report, an unnamed private school
in Hong Kong was faced with a unique problem. A number of year 12 girls
were beginning to use lipstick and they would apply it in the ladies
washroom. However after doing so, they would press their lips to the
mirror leaving dozens of lip prints. Every night, the maintenance man
would remove them but, the very next day, the girls would do it all
again.
The principal finally decided that something had to be
done. She called all the girls to the bathroom and met them there with the
maintenance man. She explained that all these lip prints were a nuisance
for the custodian, who had to clean the mirrors every night.
To demonstrate how difficult it had been to clean the
mirrors, she asked the maintenance man to show the girls how much effort
was required. He took out a long-handled squeegee, dipped it in one
of the toilet bowls, and then cleaned the mirror with it.
Amazingly, since then, there've been no lip prints on
the mirror.
