The official bulletin of the Rotary Club of Kowloon
Golden Mile is published
most Mondays and is distributed to all club members, District officials and other "friends of KGM". Winner "Best English Language Bulletin" in District 3450, 2001/2002 This Week's Meeting: Our guest speaker this week is Ms. Phoebe Ng who will be speaking to us on "Healthy Eating". Milestones:

Distribution Lists:
Members are advised that our server
has now been modified to reject messages
exceeding 500k.
This size limitation has been imposed by the Web Monster due to a recent spate of emails from members containing unreasonably huge attachments, some as large as 3 megabytes, which have caused a variety of problems. Firstly, most free web-based email
clients such as "Yahoo!" &
"Hotmail" (used by some KGM members) automatically reject such huge
files. When they are rejected, they are returned to
the Web Monster along with a "rejection advice", so this usually means
that the Web Monster gets six or more copies of the email. When the email
is 3Mb in size, this means he gets over 20Mb in rejected emails, and this
does not make him a happy camper.
Secondly, some KGM members do not have broadband
connections, so huge attachments cause very long
downloading times.
Thirdly, KGM members who have
broadband and a paid ISP still have a limitation on the size of their mailbox.
More often than not, this is only 6Mb or less. Hence a 3Mb email can cause
a mailbox to exceed the allocated capacity, which means other important
business and private emails are rejected by the ISP due to the mailbox
being "over quota".
Hence if you wish to send an email with a huge attachment, you will need to do it the hard way by adding recipients individually to your email. Walkathon: Yes folks, it's that time of the
year again when our healthy members (both of them), will walk briskly in
the bushes to help raise money for our Community Service Fund. The rest of
us will quietly have heart attacks.
This year's walkathon will
take place at Lamma Island on Sunday 23
March. Experienced walkers will depart with PP Louis "Trailwalker" Thomas at 9:30 a.m.
on a gruelling walk, while less enthusiastic walkers will depart at 11:00
a.m. on an easier walk.
Lazy sods like yours truly
will go straight to the pub to have a few cleansing ales,
while standing by with the oxygen.
Members taking part in the
walkathon get a free lunch, while members who merely want to enjoy
the fellowship must pay $150 per head for the lunch, which includes drinks
and a free boat trip provided by the restaurant to and from
Central.
More details will be
announced shortly, but mark your diaries
now.

Who Am
I?
What is the more common name
of renown blues musician McKinley Morganfield
?
The answer appears at the bottom of this issue. Golden Smile: A young man is
preparing to visit his girlfriend's house to meet her parents for the
first time.
However since
he's also been invited to spend the weekend, he decides he may as well "Be
Prepared", so he goes to Watson's to pick up some essential supplies on
the day before his visit.
When he arrives
at Watson's, he asks the pharmacist for a supply of condoms. The
pharmacist asks the young man whether he would like the regular 3 pack or
the jumbo 12 pack.
After boasting
that he's expecting a marathon weekend of wild and passionate love-making,
the young man opts for the 12 pack, and he even asks for the
multi-coloured, multi-textured variety.
The following
evening, after he sits down for dinner, the girlfriend is very surprised
to see her boyfriend with his head bowed and saying grace for at least 10
minutes.
She leans over
to him and whispers: "Wow, I had no idea you were so religious
!".
To which the
young man replied: "Well I had no idea your father was a pharmacist
!".
