Aromatherapy Treatment and Courses Ms Christine
Saunders
Dear
Rotarians of the Rotary Club of Kowloon Golden Mile, Hong Kong,
Thank you Vincent for inviting me
to speak this week on Aromatherapy, and a thank you to everyone who attended the
lunch for making me feel so welcome – it is one of the few times I have been out
in Hong Kong and felt such an inviting atmosphere from a group of people, it was
really nice, thank you! Should any Rotarian wish to receive an Aromatic
experience, we currently have a special promotional offer of $150. discounted
from out regular massage treatment price. If you are interested please
phone Asia-Pacific Aromatherapy on 2882 2444, to make a booking. (regular
price is $550).
My talk focused on safety issues
and I encourage anyone receiving an aromatherapy treatment to ask the therapist
what qualifications they have, which should be a minimum of 6 months full time
or 12 months part time training. Today, a holistic aromatherapist needs to
be a practitioner with training in many areas including chemistry, pharmacology,
anatomy, massage, physiology, communication, first aid and pathology.
What is an essential oil?
Essential oils are the working
tools of aromatherapy. They are the subtle, volatile liquids that are distilled
from plants, blossoms, shrubs, flowers, trees, bushes leaves and seeds. An
ancient process, oil distillation is a delicate the precise art that has been
almost forgotten. Science is just now re-discovering the incredible
healing power of essential oils, which are the life-blood of the plant kingdom,
and beginning to acknowledge their value.
The use of herbs and plants for
healing is not new, merely forgotten in today's modern society of medicines and
drugs! The good news is that Aromatherapy can be used safely with conventional
medical methods. Essential oils work with the bodies own natural healing systems
by stimulating and supporting them on the psychical, emotional and psychological
levels.
Essential oils are natural and
safe, when used correctly they have an immediate effect on your heart rate,
blood pressure, breathing, reproductive behaviour, memory and reaction to stress! It is very easy to incorporate
essential oils in your daily routine, through using them in hand/face/body
creams, toners, cleansers and when bathing.
The quickest way for you to find
the essential oil that is right for you is by using your nose i.e. by smelling
them. Whichever essential oil you are drawn to the most, at this point in time,
contains the unique health improving quality your body wishes to receive.
Should you wish to find out more
about Aromatherapy, treatments, short courses or qualified training please feel
free to contact me on 2882 2444 or have a look at out web site: www.aromatherapyapa.com
Again, thank you Vincent and
Rotarians at Kowloon Golden Mile
Best wishes
Christine

Classification - Manufacturing Clock-Making
I was born in Sind (formerly in
India, now a part of Pakistan after
the partition and
independence) and came as a refugee to land in Poona, now
Pune, India.
I remember going to school in Poona. I rather not talk about my education
(as I am sure you will guess after reading my English) but I
do remember going to kindergarten for 5 years but that didn’t help
either.
Anyway I came to Hong Kong in 1961 at the age of about 17 to work for an
import/export company called J. Mulchand & Sons which still exists. After
working for less than two years I was given an opportunity to go on a business
trip to the Middle East and travelled to Aden, Sudan, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia and
Egypt. I was the youngest amongst others to travel for business and every one
called me "baccha" (a kid) and I think for this reason, everyone was nice to me
and gave me volumes of business. After returning to Hong Kong following the year
long trip and working for another two years, I was given an opportunity at a
mail order house in 1965 to go the USA to run the mail order business there.
After working for less than two years in mail order, I opened a similar business
of my won 1n 1967 which I ran for nearly 5 years. Then I moved to my own
import/export house and started my current career, from which there has
been no looking back with offices being opened in Taiwan, Dubai, Bombay,
Bangkok and Chile.
Kavita, my better half, and I have three sons; the eldest is Kumar who
looks after Hong Kong/China business affairs. My second son Natesh (surprise) is
an actor in Hollywood and has had roles as an extra in the TV series Friends,
Sienfeld, Chicago Hope, Love Boat and many other series and movies. He is
currently looking for his "big break". My third son, Haney is studying in
Melbourne and will graduate in Information technology in the next year and a
half.
I became very interested in sports late in life and having caught up, I
now play squash and tennis and do a lot of walking and other light
exercises.
I would love to give more time to Rotary but my heavy
travel schedule does not permit me to do so. I will cut down on my travel in the
next year or so and hopefully will be able to devote more time to Rotary. I
would like to say that so far I have really enjoyed being a Rotarian especially
with the KGM Gang!
See you all at the next meeting.....
