Meeting on 27th December 2000
We sat down at 1.07 p.m. to Dim Sums, Mushrooms, Vegetables,
Vermicelli and Sauteed Prawn Balls with Garlic and Chilli Sauce, Sweet and Sour
Fish with Kung Po Tofu and so on. Attendance was not good - about four tables
only, including guests! Those that didn't attend... aren't you sorry
now? President Cassidy called the meeting to order at 1.16 p.m. and we sang
happy birthday again, this time to the two Birthday Boy Ashoks (Ashok
Squared?); the singing hasn't
improved.
Because it was the season of good cheer Sgt Clarissa spared us
fines, no doubt with a gleefull plan to hit us hard in the New
Year!
Rotarian Ah Suk (who did I mean by this
cryptic note?) introduced a visiting Rotary President from Hawaii who stood
and said a nice "Aloha" to all present, and Rotarian Patricia introduced Paul
Li;Teresa Cheung and Suzi Misini Guests of Rotarians, the latter two lovely
ladies for the last time! (See Below!).
Induction of New
Rotarians
Ms Teresa Cheung and Ms Suzi Misini were
next inducted to be Rotarians Teresa and Suzi with President Cassidy's
dignified and serious ceremony following introductions by their sponsors
and followed by thoughtful words of introduction by themselves. Welcome Rotarian
Teresa and Rotarian Suzi. We look forward to working with you in service to our
community!
The
Speaker...
...was our own 'ome grown Rotarian
Brian Internet Hodgson who reviewed the happenings of the year 2000, whether or
not it was the first of the Millen By Gum or not; whether it was 'umerous or
serious or not and even whether it needed to be remarked upon. Soubjects
included, Y2K, PCCW's Logo, Madonna, High Jacking, PP Raju's new fashion trends,
President Chang Chi Ming and President 2B Bush. There followed a
reasonably humorous session of questions which received equally humorous
treatment from the experienced Victoria Toastmaster!
This Weeks Speaker &
Vocationals
My apologies for the lateness of this
bulletin - alas if I give these details and you receive them, then you are too
late for this weeks meeting. Get Skates on Lads and Lassies. The Vocation
writers are still on Vacation!
Presidential
Quotation
"There are three things which are real. God, human
folly and laughter. The first two are beyond our comprehension so we must do
what we can with the third.
