And The Beat Goes On:

Well folks, the end of the current Rotary year is rapidly approaching, with only six (6) meetings remaining before President-Erect "Butch" Cassidy Lam takes over as The Main Man at KGM.

But who is Cassidy Lam ? What are his fears and aspirations ? What are his plans for KGM ? Has he ever been abducted by aliens ? If so, why did they send him back ? Enquiring minds want to know !

Anyway, at last week's meeting our guest speaker John Jarmin spoke eloquently and knowledgeably about beer, which was clearly a popular topic among KGM members. However I was truly shocked to discover that there are actually some beers in the world which, believe it or not, our old mate Hans "Chug-a-lug" Peter does NOT like !!! Will wonders never cease ?

However the highlight of the meeting occurred when Brian "Er, Um, Ah, Oh" Hodgson couldn't remember the name of his guest he was asked to introduce to KGM members. A rather embarrassing brain fade, which caused his ears to glow such a bright shade of red that everybody thought he was trying to impersonate Princess Leia's hairstyle by using two very ripe tomatoes stuck to the side of his head !

Annual Ball (Postscript on Payments):

I am very, very disappointed ............. e
verybody has paid up, which means I don't get to embarrass anybody by publishing their name in the bulletin. SPOIL SPORTS !!

Anyway, by this time next week, the Ball Accounts will be finalised and we will announce exactly how much money was raised during the evening for our Community Service Fund.

Pretty efficient, huh ?

This Week's Speaker: Mr. Selwyn Mar.

Topic: Labour Tribunal Hearings - An Employer's Perspective.

This Week's Birthday Celebrants:

Since there are no KGM members celebrating birthdays this week, I think we should use the opportunity to acknowledge relatives of KGM members who are celebrating birthdays, such as Mr. T (left) who, judging by the amount of jewellery he wears, is undoubtedly related to Rotary Foundation Director & Ball Chairman Extraordinaire Elissa "Mrs. T" Cohen.

Forthcoming District & International Events:

4-7 June 2000 - Rotary International Annual Convention - Buenos Aires, Argentina.

18 June 2000 - District Table Tennis Tournament - Cornwall Street Indoor Sports Centre, Kowloon.

29 June 2000 - District Handover Gala Banquet - Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, Wanchai North, Hong Kong.

Cool Internet Sites:

http://www.ehow.com/home/ is another really neat "How To" web site. Just type in a simple question like "How do I boil an egg ?" or "How do I remove chewing gum from my shoe ?" and, bingo-bango,  they give you the answer.

My favorite question was "How do I make a Maltese cross ?". The answer was "Kick him in the pants !" (rimshot!).

KGM Web Site:

It's only a minor improvement but now when anybody wants to add the KGM Web Site to their "favorites" list, instead of displaying the generic "Windows" icon in the favorites list and in the address bar, a cute little "sun" will be displayed. Our Webmaster really wanted a "pot of gold" (for Golden Mile), but he has yet to find a suitable icon, so the sun was chosen as a temporary measure.

By the way, members who have their own corporate (or personal) web sites which are not yet listed under the "KGM Member's Web Sites" section but would like them to be, just send the URL to the KGM Webmaster at pinto@selpro.com.hk and he will be more than happy to oblige.

Quotes Of The Week:

"When they call the roll in the Senate, the Senators do not know whether to answer 'Present' or 'Not Guilty.' !!"

(Former US President) Theodore Roosevelt

Joke Of The Week:

A woman awoke in the middle of the night and noticed that her husband was not lying in the bed next to her. She immediately
got up and started checking for him around the house, when she heard sobbing from the basement.

After descending the stairs, she discovered he husband curled up in the corner of the basement, crying like a baby.

"Honey, what's wrong?" she asked, worried about what could be causing her husband such grief.

"Remember 20 years ago when I got you pregnant and your father threatened me that I must either marry you or to go to jail?"

"Yes, of course," she replied.

"Well, I would have been released from jail this afternoon!"
