Happy Valentine's Day !

OK, those of you of the male persuasion who forgot to send their "significant other" a beautiful bunch of flowers today please raise your right arm ...............

What's that you say ? Oh, I see. You can't raise your right arm because it's broken. Gee, can't imagine why :-)

Anyway, moving right along, I won't bore you with the details but I am travelling once again, and this week's bulletin is coming to you from Singapore, a truly "fine" city. Zzzzzzzzz.

Hence, I hope you will forgive me for the brevity of this issue, coz I have to be in bed by 6:00 p.m. otherwise I may get shot.

Congratulations !

I am sure those of you who remember former KGM member Stacey "Don't Call Me Tracy" Pallaras will be delighted to learn that her hubby Steve, who was previously with the Attorney General's office in Hong Kong, was recently appointed a Queen's Counsel.

On behalf of all members of KGM, we extend our heartiest congratulations to Steve and Stacey, who have resided in Perth, Western Australia since they returned to Australia, and who continue to be recipients of this erstwhile publication.

However members who wish to send their own personal congratulations (or to ask for heavily discounted legal fees), may contact the Pallaraseseseseses (or should that be "Pallari" ?) at pallaras@iinet.net.au

If ya do, tell 'em Vinny sent ya !

This Week's Speaker: Mr. Georges Halpern
Topic: The Science Of Pleasure !

Hmmmm. Our old mate Programme Director Brian "Baby Oil" Hodgson just returned from a trip to Manila and our next speaker is going to talk about "The Science Of Pleasure" !!!  Coincidence ?? Yeah, right !

Anyway, the last I heard (from reliable sources NOT from personal experience), is that the science of pleasure primarily involves mathematics (i.e. counting out Peso 1,500 in small bills).

Next Fellowship Event: Mexican Night !

OK, folks, it's now official !!! Assistant Fellowship Director Hans "Pancho Villa" Peter has arranged our next fellowship as follows:

Date and Time: 11 March, 2000 at 7:30 p.m.

Venue: Coyote Bar & Grill, 114-120 Lockhart Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong.

Cost: Only $350 per head, which includes enormous servings of typical Mexican specialties including empanadas, quesadillas, stuffed jalapeno peppers and chicken wings of fire, all washed down with unlimited soft drinks, sangria, margueritas and beer. Ole !

Those of you taking the MTR (highly recommended), should take "Exit C" and turn left once you reach street level, and you will find Coyote is about 50 few metres away. Those preferring to drive can find parking in the First Pacific Bank Centre (entrance on Jaffe Road between Fenwick Street and Luard Road, opposite the new "Chinatown" bar).

As seating in Coyote is limited to a MAXIMUM of fifty (50) people, it will be a usual KGM case of "first to pay, first served".

If you want to attend this fellowship, Hans Peter will be glad to accept your cash/cheque from this Wednesday at lunch.

This Week's Birthday Celebrant:

18 February - John Li, who shares his birthday with John Travolta, star of such record-breaking movies ranging from "Saturday Night Fever", to "Face Off".

OK, to tell you the truth, John Li won't tell me when he actually celebrates his birthday (apparently it's a State secret) but, since February is a quiet month for KGM birthdays, I thought we might as well wish him well this month.

Forthcoming Club and District Events:

(1) 25-27 February 2000 - Rotary International Presidential Conference, Regent Hotel, Hong Kong.

The KGM sponsored slots for this event have been fully subscribed.

KGM Web Site:

Once again, nothing major to report this week however the Webmaster recently found a photograph of our three Sergeants-At-Arms when they were babies, and this has been posted to the KGM web page :-)

Cool Internet Sites:

http://www.prematuree.com is yet another "health" web site, but it is one which specialise in answering questions which you may be too embarrassed to even ask your own doctor, especially if she looks like Katherine Zeta-Jones !

Needless to say, I won't quote any examples here, but this site is definitely worth a visit.

(Dumb) Quote Of The Week:

"Traditionally, most of Australia's imports come from overseas."

Former Australian cabinet minister Keppel Elderberry

Joke Of The Week (Contributed by Mukesh Dayaram):

Hilary Clinton died and went to Heaven. St. Peter was giving her a tour of Heaven when she noticed that there were dozens of clocks
on the wall. Each clock displayed a different time of day.

When she asked St. Peter about the clocks, he replied, "We have a clock for each person on earth and, every time they tell a lie, the hands move. The clock ticks off one second each time a lie is told".

Special attention was given to two clocks. The clock belonging to Mother Teresa has never moved, indicating that she never told a lie. The clock for Abraham Lincoln had only moved twice, because he only told two lies in his entire life.

Hilary asked "Where is my husband's clock"?

St. Peter replied, "It's on the ceiling of God's office - he's using it as a ceiling fan".
