Fund-Raising News - Repeat:
Our old mate Brian "The
Full Monty" Hodgson is, ahhh, tickled pink (some would
say tickled "pasty white"), to announce that his latest,
um, titillating project has finally been launched, and he sincerely
hopes that he hasn't made an, er, ass of himself.
Anyway, twelve valiant
(deviant?) members of our club have bared-all in the name
of charity, and the results can be seen in a 2005 Calendar, the making of which was,
according to Brian, "Both a privilege and a joy, as it provided a source
of great fun for all contributors".
Of course a major contribution was made by
Colin Beere, a hugely creative
and immensely talented photographer, who turned an idea into a reality.
Apparently he also owns an industrial strength air-brush (thank God for
small mercies!).
All proceeds raised through sales of the calendar will
benefit various local & overseas charitable organisations
which KGM has supported over the past 18 years, and these
include Aids Concern. Cancer Research HK, Christian Action,
Crossroads International, Cleft Lip surgery for children in the
Philippines, Gift of Life (hole-in-the-heart surgery for children in
China), Haven of Hope Hospice, Lok Chi Association for the Disabled and
the St. James' Settlement.
Brian hopes every member will buy at least 10
copies of the calendar to give to family, friends or customers.
The price of each calendar is HK$150 (or only
HK$125 if you order before 1 December) - see
the dedicated website, where you can place an online
order.
For more information, contact Brian on telephone 9191 7508 or by
email.

That’s why the Foundation’s Permanent Fund is considered the most important way to ensure the future of Rotary’s educational and humanitarian programs. Contributions to this fund, formerly called the Endowment for World Understanding and Peace, are invested for the future. Only earnings from their investment are used to support Foundation programs. Ultimately, it is intended that the Permanent Fund will provide a steady and secure supplement to Foundation support, always guaranteeing a minimum level of program activity and allowing for the possibility of new and expanded programs in the future. The
Foundation gives special recognition to donors to the Permanent Fund as
Major Donors, Bequest Society Members, and Benefactors. Major Donors make
gifts of US$10,000 or more; Bequest Society Members include the Permanent
Fund in their estate plans for $10,000 or more; and Foundation Benefactors
make provisions in their will or make an outright contribution of $1,000
to the fund. These individuals are ensuring that The Rotary Foundation
will remain a powerful force for good in the world far into the
future

Golden Smile: At a busy bus stop, a beautiful blonde young woman
wearing a tight mini skirt was waiting for a bus. As the bus stopped and
it was her turn to get on, she became aware that her skirt was too tight
to allow her leg to come up to the height of the first step of the bus.
Slightly embarrassed, and with a quick smile to the bus
driver, she reached behind to unzip her skirt a little, thinking that this
would give her enough slack to raise her leg. She tried to take the step,
only to discover that she still couldn't make it.
So, a little more embarrassed, she once again reached
behind to unzip her skirt a little more, and tried to board the bus.
However much to her chagrin, she still couldn't raise her leg. With a
little smile to the driver, she again reached behind to unzip a little
more and again was unable to take the step.
About this time, a large Texan who was standing behind
her picked her up by the waist and placed her gently on the step of the
bus. The young woman was extremely upset, and turned to the would-be
Samaritan and yelled, "How dare you touch my body! I don't even know you!"
The Texan smiled and said, "Well, ma'am, normally I'd
agree with you, but after you unzipped my fly three times, I kinda figured
we was friends".
Quotable Quotes:
"There's a new medical crisis. Doctors are reporting
that many men are having allergic reactions to latex condoms. They say
they cause severe swelling. So what's the
problem?"
