++++++
From Under The Kitchen Sink: Our spy in the Holiday Inn kitchen, Vincent "Leeky" Lam, informs us that this week's fare is Western food, namely butter lettuce with smoked salmon, followed by either pan-fried chicken piccata Milanese with buttered spaghetti or grilled vegetable lasagna on creamy leeks, ending with lemon cream with Morello cherries, plus coffee or tea. BOD

No, this is not a misprint. The BOD meeting scheduled for last week was cancelled due to a lack of interest. Hence it will be held tonight at 6:30 p.m., Monday 22 November
2004, at Jade Suite II, at the 2/F of the Holiday Inn
Golden Mile hotel.
If you can't attend and
haven't already notified anybody, please call President Silva "Dollar" Yeung on 9408
1198 or Secretary Mazhar
"Bizarre" Sultana on 9303 8881 - NOW.

birthday this week (boring!)

Fellowship News:
Our permanently sun-tanned young mate "Lady" Diana Yeung has announced that our next club fellowship event will be a Pirates & Parrots Event, which will take place from 4:00 p.m. on Saturday 20 November at Treasure Island on Lantau Island. The assembly time and place is 2:00 p.m at the Outlying Ferry Pier No. 6 in
Central. The ferry takes 30 minutes to get to Mui-Wo,
after which members can either take a public bus or a taxi to final
destination Pui-On Beach.
After enjoying some of the facilities at Treasure
Island, dinner will be
provided at a cost of $280 per adult and
only $45 per child.
Moreover, rooms (and tents) are available for
overnight stays for members in the mood for some hanky-panky
(batteries not included) and/or spanky-spanky (bring your own masks,
handcuffs and whipped cream).
Members interested in attending should contact Diana on telephone 9197 8615 or by
email.

Fund-Raising News - Repeat:
Our old mate Brian "The
Full Monty" Hodgson is, ahhh, tickled pink (some would
say tickled "pasty white"), to announce that his latest,
um, titillating project has finally been launched, and he sincerely
hopes that he hasn't made an, er, ass of himself.
Anyway, twelve valiant
(deviant?) members of our club have bared-all in the name
of charity, and the results can be seen in a 2005 Calendar, the making of which was,
according to Brian, "Both a privilege and a joy, as it provided a source
of great fun for all contributors".
Of course a major contribution was made by
Colin Beere, a hugely creative
and immensely talented photographer, who turned an idea into a reality.
Apparently he also owns an industrial strength air-brush (thank God for
small mercies!).
All proceeds raised through sales of the calendar will
benefit various local & overseas charitable organisations
which KGM has supported over the past 18 years, and these
include Aids Concern. Cancer Research HK, Christian Action,
Crossroads International, Cleft Lip surgery for children in the
Philippines, Gift of Life (hole-in-the-heart surgery for children in
China), Haven of Hope Hospice, Lok Chi Association for the Disabled and
the St. James' Settlement.
Brian hopes every member will buy at least 10
copies of the calendar to give to family, friends or customers.
The price of each calendar is HK$150 (or only
HK$125 if you order before 1 December) - see
the dedicated website, where you can place an online
order.
For more information, contact Brian on telephone 9191 7508 or by
email.
Vocational Service News:
Looks like it's going to be a very busy weekend for our
Vocational Service Team:
Firstly, our old mate Vincent "Bubba" Lam has arranged a
vocational visit for 2:30 pm on Saturday 27 November 2004, to two
juvenile correctional service facilities, namely the Phoenix House (a half-way House) and
the Lai Hang Rehabilitation
Centre, both of which emphasise partnership with outside
agencies, such as Rotary Clubs, in providing services to young
offenders.
This is a most worthwhile visit, because we get to see
the kind of "reform" services that are being rendered to our society's
young offenders, so that they will hopefully not become repeat offenders.
KGM members interested in attending must assemble at the Holiday Inn Golden Mile Hotel at 1:45
pm to board a bus, because the centres are not easily
accessible by private cars or public transport.
KGM members interested in attending should
contact Vincent on telephone 9045
6871 or by email.
++++++
Secondly, our old mate and Vocational Service Director Miranda "King"
Kong has arranged a vocational visit for 2:30 pm on Sunday 28 November
2004, at the Hong Kong Jockey Club auditorium at the Hong
Kong Polytechnic University (香港理工大學賽馬會綜藝館).
The event, organised by the Lok Chi Association, one of the many
beneficiaries of our Community Service Fund contributions in recent years,
is actually the final of the Integration with
Singing & Dancing competition (傷健歌舞同展藝), where
handicapped clients of the association can demonstrate
their various talents. The event also hopes to encourage our youth to work
with handicapped people, thereby creating a team spirit between
them.
KGM members interested in attending should
contact Miranda on telephone 9199
3077 or by email.
District 3450 News & Events:
(Sometimes I get the distinct impression that I'm not universally loved and that I'm being ignored. Anyway ......) Where, oh where, is our beloved DG Alexander Mak's latest monthly
newsletter? The most current one available on the District
website is the August 2004
issue, but it's already, like, November, dude. Wassup?
And when, oh when, is the DG going to make his Official Visit to KGM? Sure, it's nice getting together with the other clubs in Area 7 for a slap-up dinner, dance & tickle, but surely KGM is entitled to a private club visit where KGM has our DG's undivided attention? So many questions, so few answers .............. hello? HELLO? Upcoming District
events:
"A Day At The Races", 23
February 2005 - details - (KGM is hoping to book 2 tables of 10 seats
each)

The first seven Secretariat offices were located in the city’s downtown but, in 1954, Rotary built an attractive new building in suburban Evanston. This building met the needs of the Rotary Secretariat until the 1980s, when the addition of new programs, the growth of The Rotary Foundation, and the new PolioPlus activities made the headquarters building extremely crowded and required some staff members to be housed in supplementary office space nearby. When
a modern 18-story office building became available in downtown Evanston in
1987, it appeared to meet all of Rotary's space and expansion needs for
years to come. The glass and steel structure, built in 1977, provides
400,000 square feet (37,160 square meters) of office and usable space. The
building was purchased by Rotary International, which leases nearly half
of the space to commercial tenants, until needed by future Rotary
growth.
The
building provides a 190-seat auditorium, large parking garage and 300-seat
cafeteria, as well as functional office space for the 500 employees of the
World Headquarters. The executive suite on the 18th floor includes
conference rooms for meetings of the RI Board of Directors, Rotary
Foundation Trustees, and RI and Foundation committees, in addition to the
offices for the RI president, president-elect, president-nominee, chairman
of The Rotary Foundation Trustees, and general
secretary.

Rotary Center, as it is called, enhances the efficient operations of

Golden Smile: Female Prayer: Before I lay me down to sleep,
I pray for a man, who's not a creep, One who's handsome, smart and strong, One who loves to listen long, One who thinks before he speaks, One who'll call, not wait for weeks. I pray he's gainfully employed, When I spend his cash, won't be annoyed Pulls out my chair and opens my door, Massages my back and begs to do more. Oh! Send me a man who'll make love to my mind, Knows what to answer to "How big is my behind?" I pray that this man will love me to no end, And always be my very best friend. Amen.
Male
Prayer:
I pray for a deaf-mute nymphomaniac with huge
boobs, who owns a liquor store, a 50" television,
and a fishing boat.
Amen. Quotable Quotes:
"My mother buried three husbands, and two of them were
just napping."
